Anti-Discrimination Act
 Printer Friendly

Every state and territory in Australia has its own anti-discrimination laws which may have slight variations and may also differ from the federal legislation. The Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (New South Wales) and the Discrimination Act 1991 (ACT) are the anti-discrimination laws that apply to New South Wales and the ACT respectively. These acts prohibit discrimination against people with disabilities, including people who are accompanied by Guide Dogs.
The New South Wales Anti-Discrimination Board administers the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, while the ACT Human Rights Office administers the Discrimination Act 1991. These government agencies can investigate and conciliate complaints under the respective acts.
