When did the Guide Dog movement start in Australia?
It was established in Perth in 1951 by volunteers. Now there are organisations providing services in all states and territories.

Do you receive any government funding?
No, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT is entirely funded by donations and bequests from the public, and corporate alliances.


Do you charge for your services and equipment?
No, all of our services are provided free of charge to people with vision impairment in New South Wales and the ACT (Australia).


What is your main source of income?
In 2007 to 2008 financial year, 58 percent of income was from legacies and bequests. 42 percent was from general donations, telemarketing and support groups.
