It's a long name for an event, but last 22-23 November was the “Procurement Forum
2006 together with Contracts on Show”, an annual event attracting well over
1000 visitors by invitation.
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT was in attendance because we were invited to share a stand with IPA Personnel, a recruiting company who has made Guide Dogs their charity of choice. The first time such a sharing has been organised, IPA thought it was an ideal opportunity to raise funds and awareness for Guide Dogs and during the show, showbags containing information brochures and other material for both organisations were handed out.
Moreover, in a unique twist, show visitors were also asked to help raise funds for Guide Dogs by pinning their business cards to a large map of New South Wales. IPA Personnel had pledged to donate to Guide Dogs $2 for every card pinned to the map ... and to double the amount if the map was full at the end of the event ... a veritable treasure map in the making.
Throughout the event, six puppies ranging from 10 weeks to 16 months were rostered to “Meet & Greet” visitors with at least one puppy and Puppy Raiser always on the stand.
Indeed, the puppies really stole the show, with some visitors coming back two or three times a day to meet the newly arrived puppies. This, of course, added to the opportunities for IPA and Guide Dogs staff to speak with attendees and answer questions about each organisation’s services.
We would like to thank IPA Personnel for the opportunity to participate and also
for the magnificent $3000 donation to Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.
