Mobility Day
What is Mobility Day?
Mobility Day is a one day program which teaches school-aged children with vision impairment to get around safely in the city. They learn appropriate travel and social skills in a completely new environment, under the close supervision of our experienced Orientation and Mobility Instructors.
What do the participants learn?
The participants gain practical experience in city travel. We meet in the heart of the city, so they learn to travel on a range of public transport, cross streets at traffic light-controlled intersections, and negotiate their way through crowded footpaths.
It's also a great opportunity to brush up on Orientation and Mobility skills, and meet other children in their age group.
How can I join the group?
Every school-aged child with vision impairment can attend Mobility Day. Like all our services, it's free of charge. This is a needs-driven program which is held whenever we have sufficient numbers of participants.
