Overhead Obstacles
 Printer Friendly

All overhead objects should be at least 2000mm (or 2 metres) above the ground, preferably 2400mm as per Australian Standards. This includes signs, roofing, or tree branches and foliage. For further information regarding the requirements for overhead objects please refer to the relevant Australian Standard (1428.1).

Stairs and escalators can be an overhead obstacle if the cavity beneath is not enclosed. To prevent people hurting themselves, all staircases, ramps and escalators should be enclosed.
