At Guide Dogs, we train people to use public transport with improved safety and confidence. At Guide Dogs, we train people to use public transport with improved safety and confidence.

Many people with vision impairment use public transport on a regular basis, negotiating their way by using their remaining vision or a mobility aid such as a long cane or Guide Dog.

Our professional staff train people to use public transport with improved safety and confidence. Individually tailored programs are developed with each client and training continues until the client feels confident to travel independently. We also work with clients to plan and become familiar with new orientation routes, including travel on public transport.

We also hold educational sessions for people in the public transport sector, such as bus and taxi operators in order to improve their interaction with customers who are vision impaired. These sessions cover topics such as how to assist people with vision impairment.

Public transport should be accessible to all members of the community without discrimination.
