Transport Subsidies
 Printer Friendly

At Guide Dogs, we work with people with vision impairment so they can travel safely and independently. Many organisations in New South Wales and the ACT assist our work by providing transport subsidies, including the Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme and the Vision Impaired Person's Travel Permit.

New South Wales

The Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme (TTSS) is administered by the New South Wales Department of Transport. It assists residents who can't use public transport because of a qualifying severe and permanent disability, and entitles them to travel by taxi at half fare. Though participation is not means tested, there are strict eligibility criteria. For more information or to download an application form, please visit the TTSS website.

The Vision Impaired Person's Travel Permit provides free travel on CityRail Trains, Sydney Buses, Sydney Ferries, and Newcastle Buses and Ferries. For more information including the eligibility criteria, please call (02) 9379 4441 on Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.00pm.

ACT

Action Buses ACT provides free travel for passengers with vision impairment. For more information, contact Action Buses.
