Education and Resources

Guide Dogs NSW/ACT provides education for the wider community, explaining our services and the needs and rights of people with impaired vision.

Guide Dogs NSW/ACT has developed information sessions for various community groups, which cover a range of subjects relating to vision impairment. Our speakers will tailor the talk to your specific needs and interests, and work with you to identify a suitable length and mutually convenient location for the session. All sessions are free of charge.

Councils, architects, environmental designers, town planners, engineers, restaurants and clubs and transport authorities can book an information session with a Guide Dogs representative to learn how a person with vision impairment can travel independently in the community, learn more about the practical application of the current Australian Standards relating to vision impairment, and learn to design environments more effectively for people with vision impairment.

For more information, please contact the Community Education Co-ordinator via our online contact form, or phone 02 9412 9300.

Primary and Secondary Schools, Retirement Villages, Probus, Senior Citizens, Community Groups can also request free talks from our informational speakers. More information and book a speaker.
