Rufus Trilogy
This mixed dozen contains 4 Heathcote Shiraz, 4 McLaren Vale Shiraz and 4 Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec.
Since 1997, Tyrrell's historic association with the 'Rufus Stone' has been utilised for their top non Hunter Valley red wines from its vineyards in Heathcote (Victoria) and McLaren Vale (South Australia). These robust and full bodied red wines demonstrate true varietal characteristics typical of their region.
Tasting Notes
Rufus Stone Heathcote Shiraz
Deep rich red to crimson in colour indicates the intensity of this wine. The nose is full of ripe plum and dark cherries with a hint of white pepper and sweet vanillin. The flavours carry onto the palate which is full of big soft fruit, but balanced by an elegant oak structure and natural acid, resulting in a rich wine with a complex and fresh structure. Alc/Vol 14%
Rufus Stone McLaren Vale Shiraz
The wine shows plenty of ripe fleshy characters on both the nose and palate lifted by the oak handling. The fine soft tannins maintain the powerful fruit and give an elegant structure and overall balance. Alc/Vol 14.5%
Rufus Stone Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec
This wine represents the best qualities of these two noble grape varieties - strong varietal aromas and flavours of ripe blackcurrants from the cabernet sauvignon, filled out with soft fleshy malbec and then complemented by finely structured French oak tannins. The wine shows great colour levels and firm natural acidity, yet is richer and softer than some previous vintages. Alc/Vol 14.5%
