Finding your Destination

Guide Dogs NSW/ACT assists people who have impaired vision to plan routes, and to travel safely and confidently.

Our Orientation and Mobility Instructors train people to negotiate public transport, road crossings and stairs. We also teach people to orientate themselves in the surrounding environment by using their senses and nearby landmarks.

Depending on individuals' needs, they can also learn how to use a mobility aid such as a long cane or Guide Dog, or simply learn to use their remaining vision more effectively.

Our instructors will travel to any location where people require assistance within NSW and the ACT. The training is provided free of charge, and can continue until the person feels confident to traverse the routes independently.
