About the Artist
Bruno Jean Grasswill won both the Archibald People’s Choice Award and the Archibald Packing Room Prize in 2015 for his portrait of Australian actor Michael Caton. His portraits of creative artist/ businesswoman Claudia Chan Shaw and comedian Phil Scott were also chosen for the Salon des Refusés at the National Trust’s S.H. Ervin Gallery. Born in 1946, at La Rochelle in France, Bruno Jean Grasswill has been an artist for most of his life. As well as painting, he has worked in commercial art, photography, publishing and advertising. He was one of the three equal winners of the International Sony Logo Competition in 1981, from a field of 29,833 professional artists worldwide. For the past 20 years, he has produced many creative works, mostly for private commission.
