About the artwork
Meet the Deco Dog – a stylish pooch inspired by Art Deco. I have just returned from New York, where I led an Art Gallery Society of NSW tour called New York – Art Deco to Art Now. My mind is full of Art Deco’s clean lines and geometrics. Art Deco is the 1920s, the Jazz Age and the Machine Age. Think of Erté designs featuring stylish women with their angular canines. Deco Dog is an homage to this rich design movement, that influenced not only architecture, but fashion, accessories, graphic design, sculpture, painting, film and photography. Deco Dog is an opulent and tactile experience.
