About the Artist

I’m Helen Ashley, artist, illustrator and maker. Originally a UK trained textile designer, I’ve lived and worked in Australia for over 25 years. My hand painted artwork has been used for fashion, homewares and ceramics. When I’m not designing or illustrating for others, I can be found playing with clay or teaching in my studio, The Art Room, in Precinct 75, St Peters. My whole life and career has always been intensely visual. I could not imagine life without sight. It is a true privilege to be asked to be part of this creative project and worthy cause.

About the artwork

Helen Ashley's art dog

Introducing Geoffrey, inspired by Geoff Ostling, a fully tattooed man adorned with Australian native flora that lives in my suburb, Petersham. Geoff has offered to donate his skin to The National Gallery of Australia when he dies as the artwork is so beautiful.
