About the artwork

James Maddison's art dog

My inspiration for my dog, who I’ve decided to name Graff, was both a reflection of the street art and graffiti I do in my free time, and also the general feel of freedom I get when using aerosol paint. I’ve tried to use a variety of colours and tones to give a palleted effect, whilst using the various dot sizes and sharp lines to still give a controlled feel to the colours being applied. I wanted the base to remain clean and black, in order to make the colours I used pop that little more. Overall I wanted something that showed different cap techniques and sizes, and also had a slight ‘wild style’ feel to it. I’m very grateful to be given the opportunity to contribute some of my art to Guide Dogs NSW/ACT. They are a great cause, and make a huge impact to the lives of those people who are in need of the dogs they provide.
