About the Artist
As part of the Chinese diaspora and like my diversity, I have adopted a Chinese-Indonesian-Australian point of view. As an Australian migrant, I blend myth with the reality of current events by cross-referencing our stereotypical understanding of displaced persons with an autobiographic experience. Please note that all dogs have been on display at the Chinese New Year festivities and therefore may have some imperfections. All Art Dogs for sale are available for collection from the Guide Dogs NSW/ACT office in Chatswood at the buyer's expense. Collections can be made during business hours by appointment after full payment has been received.
About the artwork
As recorded in the Chinese horoscope, the dog is a loyal honest friend, faithful, smart, straightforward, venerable and responsible. My contribution to the 60th anniversary of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT, as part of the City of Sydney Chinese New Year Festival, is to decorate the dog with bright colours. This work is a sentiment of mixing spirituality and sharing, and as we well know, things are simply better when they are shared. With an emphasis on colour, the work delivers a personal expression of identity and pride, culminating in a celebration of liberation and creative freedom.
