About the Artists

Presbyterian Ladies’ College, Sydney is one of Australia’s oldest and most respected schools where each girl is extended to grow into a confident, caring and accomplished young woman of integrity. The College has a long-standing commitment to service learning. For over 50 years it has continued this work through raising money to support the training program of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT. This is achieved through The Pet Show, an initiative of Year nine students and an annual event on the College grounds where funds are raised through craft and food stalls, pet parade and judging.

About the artwork

Presbyterian Ladies College art dog

Inspired by the Chinese New Year Festival Year of the Dog in 2018, this artwork, Blossom, was painted by a group of talented Year nine artists of PLC Sydney. The students’ design was informed by traditions in Chinese art such as costume design from Imperial China as well as the contemporary sculptural practice of Chinese born Australian artist Ah Xian.
