About the artwork

Salvatore Zofrea's art dog

I have named this dog Pancho II in memory of a very dear Chihuahua dog Pancho. I owned this dog 30 years ago and I still dream about him from time to time. This dog of course does not resemble the first Pancho in any way. In painting this dog I aimed to make him as eye-catching as possible to draw people’s attention to the importance of vision in our lives. I used a yellow background and on it painted bright blobs of ‘jumping-for-joy’ colour to symbolise how even a bit of colour can brighten the world. Finally, I added a pair of sunglasses because I see Pancho II as a zany cool kind of dog.
