About the Artists
Students of Ultimo Public School, their teachers and wonderful families, have always been proud supporters of Lunar New Year. Our diverse community has strong connections with this cultural celebration and we have used Chinese good luck symbols to reflect this. Our background is red to scare away the New Year monster, Nian!
About the artwork
The artwork is designed by one of our talented Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, and children in stage one had fun dot-painting the base to represent the Gadigal land on which our school stands. Guide Dogs NSW/ACT also has a special place at Ultimo Public School as the family of one of our Year six school leaders is currently puppy raising Duke, a beautiful Guide Dog in training.
