FREE Low Vision Technology Day
To make it easier for people in Western Sydney to access the latest low vision technologies, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT is running a free information day where residents will get to test drive ways to help them enjoy reading, watching television and doing other everyday activities.
This event will offer those who are experiencing vision loss, and their friends and family, the opportunity to explore displays of the latest technology and low vision options, including adaptive technology available under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
A range of equipment to enable people with vision loss to read their favourite book, the newspaper or play cross words will be showcased. Aids on display will include hand-held and desktop electronic magnifiers to help with reading, lighting options for craft work, text-to-speech devices, digital audio books, screen reading software and Braille keyboards.
Companies at the Low Vision Technology Day will include Humanware, Quantam RLV, Pacific Vision, Optek Systems, Look & Looking PL and Macular Disease Foundation.
Local Orientation and Mobility Instructors from Guide Dogs NSW/ACT will also be on hand to provide information about the services offered at no cost to clients.
