Puppy Play Day to Thank our Puppy Sponsors

It takes close to two years to raise, train and transform playful pups into brilliant Guide Dogs - a journey only made possible by the monthly support of people like our Puppy Sponsors. This weekend, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT hosted a Puppy Play Day at the Guide Dogs Centre in Glossodia, as a special thank you event for these wonderful Puppy Sponsors.

Puppy Play Day

Puppy Play Day gave our Puppy Sponsors a chance to visit the puppies that they are currently helping to become devoted Guide Dogs during a fun day of activities including a tour of the Guide Dogs Centre kennels, a dog parade starring the Sponsor Puppies and a guest appearance from Australia’s Got Talent finalist and Guide Dogs NSW/ACT client Matt McLaren.

There were also interactive Guide Dog and Puppy Demonstrations, a photo booth, food stalls, face painting and a Sensory Tent used to demonstrate how you can interpret experiences without the sense of sight.

The Guide Dogs Team was very lucky to have such wonderful Puppy Sponsors to join in on the Puppy Play Day fun despite the drizzly weekend weather and would like to give a big thank you to all those who attended!

Why Sponsor a Puppy?

Every day, 28 Australians are diagnosed with sight loss, and the tragedy is three out of four people in NSW and ACT who need a Guide Dog don’t have one. The monthly support that we receive from our Puppy Sponsors, supports a range of needs of our Guide Dog program including training and enrichment equipment, maintenance of our kennel facilities, veterinary costs, and expert dog training staff. Ultimately, with the help of Puppy Sponsors, we are able to reach more people with sight loss and give them freedom and independence and we are so thankful for the support!
